Vipers Sports Club is reigning Champion of the Azam Uganda Premier League 2014/15. With our home ground in Buikwe, we have cemented our position as a dominant football club in Uganda today having been established in 1969 as Bunamwaya Sports Club to provide recreation, entertainment and physical fitness to the community (especially the youth) in Bunamwaya Parish, Makindye Sabagabo Sub-county in Wakiso District about 6km south of Kampala City center in the Buganda Region of the Republic of Uganda.
In 1973 Bunamwaya FC (now Vipers SC) was registered and played its competitive football in second division in Mpigi District (Now Wakiso District) and amidst some challenges, it was promoted to the 1st Division in 1985. Its impressive performance in the 1st Division League earned it a place in the Zonal Mini League Play-offs that it went on to host in 1987.
Following the club revival in 1994, Bunamwaya FC became a Sports Club that would offer to the community more that football. Under the new executive, Bunamwaya SC recruited quality players and a technical team that eventually dominated the 1st Division League for 1997, 1998 and 1999 respectively.
The turn of the millennium saw a new executive under the leadership of Mr. Lawrence Mulindwa (now Honorary FUFA President) as chairman register tremendous success sustained by high level of discipline, motivation of players, good management, entertaining & purposeful football display. Vipers SC subsequently won the Wakiso District 1st Division League in 2000, 2002, and 2005, eventually performing exceptionally and winning the Zonal and Buganda Regional Mini Leagues respectively.
In 2005, Bunamwaya SC earned a deserved promotion to the Uganda Super League and finished 11th, 5th, 4th, and 7th in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 respectively as well as going as far as the quarter finals in the Uganda Cup (formerly Kakungulu Cup). The resilience and consistency in 2010 saw Vipers SC crowned Champions of the Uganda Super League only five years into top flight football and in 2011 Vipers SC represented Uganda in the CECAFA Club Championship and went up to the quarter finals in their maiden appearance.
In 2012 Bunamwaya SC changed the name to Vipers SC and in the same year, the club reached the first ever Uganda Cup final in its history and again in the following year 2013 but losing both finals to URA FC and SC Victoria University FC respectively.
The second league title came in 2015 five years after winning the maiden title beating arch rivals SC Villa to the crown.
Vipers SC through its youth academy ‘St. Mary’s Sports Academy (SMASA)’ is committed to discovering and developing young talent to feed the senior team and the various national teams.
