Vipers SC have this evening announced the acquisition of lethal striker Erisa Sekisambu from rivals SC Villa. Following protracted negotiations, a three year deal that will keep him at the club until the end of 2017/18 has been clinched. Sekisambu has agreed terms with the club that include an undisclosed sign-on fee believed to be in the region of USD$ 10,000, a hefty remuneration of close to one million shillings monthly salary, accommodation and other allowances. Also included in the deal was a performance based bonus to the striker of four million shillings if he scores 20 goals or more in the season and a buyout close of USD$ 100,000 to any interested party to acquire his services prior to expiry of the contract.
Sekisambu who was out of contract with SC Villa put pen to paper on Thursday 02/07/2015 at around 3pm at the club offices. He will be unveiled on a private club function next week after the return leg of the CHAN Qualification match between Uganda Cranes and Tanzania Taifa Stars in Kampala where the striker is expected to play a key role following his impressive display a fortnight ago scoring the opening goal in the first round played in Zanzibar.
Vipers’ assistant coach Richard Wasswa was all praises for the youngster he has been monitoring for a long time, “He is a focused and hardworking player. Erisa will add depth to our team since he is a box player and a clinical finisher who converts chances”, said Wasswa. Sekisambu scored seven goals in the league helping his former club SC Villa to the second position and lifted the 2015 Uganda Cup in which he was he was named the most valuable player.
Prior to signing for the league champions, Erisa played for Express FC, URA FC and SC Villa. “I am delighted to be given an opportunity to showcase my talent at this great club. Am determined to fight for a place on the first team and to score as many goals”, said Sekisambu
Sekisambu is the fifth signing of the campaign at Vipers SC following the arrival of defender Shafiq Bakaki and forward John Semazzi (both from Express FC), midfielder Brian Nkuubi (from Kira Young) and Duncan Ezekel Seninde (from KJT Rwenshama) that were unveiled on last Sunday at the club victory celebrations at Lake Victoria Serena Hotel.
