Vipers completes the signing of stars Bakaki, Semazzi, Nkuubi and Sseninde
Shafiq Bikaki a towering defender who can play both as a centre and right back made his international debut in March 2015 when the Uganda Cranes defeated the super eagles of Nigeria 0-1 in Akwa Ibom Stadium, Uyo. He also played a key role in the team that defeated Tanzania 3-0 in the qualifiers of the 2015 CHAN Championships. Comfortable with the ball, physical, and strong in the air with good game reading, the 21 year old is a menace to the strikers with his great composure and commands the defense well with maturity and class. His experience and addition to the Vipers backline will surely create competition with already established defenders Mukisa Yusuf, Musa Malunda and captain Wadada Nico among others. “Am so happy to be here, It has been my dream to play for Vipers SC, it’s a club with big ambitions and I hope to contribute to further success”, Shafiq said.
With a tally of 10 goals in the 2014/15 League Campaign for his side Kira Young, attacking mid fielder Brian Nkuubi attracted interest from all the top clubs for his outstanding performance. Capable of playing in any midfield and forward position, the 20 year old was regularly used in a wide role and featured in almost all the matches in the previous campaign for his club. “He is a young player with lots of quality and potential. He can be the future of the club and we expect him to do very well for us,” said Edward Golola, the head Coach of Vipers SC. Brian is yet to shine at the international stage despite receiving a number of summons to the national team.
John Semazzi on the other hand ended the 2014/15 season with 7 goals to his name for Express FC in his league debut. He has been on the U23 team and scored a wonderful goal in Kigali to give Uganda a 2-0 cushion against the Rwanda U23 in May 2015. He is also part of the National team playing in the CHAN Championship.
Sseninde Duncan Ezekel is a budding talent that combines skill and speed running at defenders, he single handedly lifted his former side KJT Rweshema to inflict the only defeat to Vipers SC 2014/15 campaign in the league. He has so much potential, his good years are ahead and with us he is at home, said Richard Wasswa the Vipers SC assistant coach.
“These new recruits, save for Semazzi have not come through the ranks at Vipers SC but are such experienced and prove crop of players that will bolster the squad to compete favorably in the CAF Champions League and CECAFA Club Championships ahead”, argued Kyobe for going against the club policy to only recruit from within the club academy setup.
However on a brighter note, Bashir ………………. Is set to graduate from St Marys Kitende Youth academy to the senior team following wonderful performances in the just concluded Coca Cola schools cup in Hoima making him the fifth signing ahead of next season.
