Spartans Football club which plays in the Kampala regional league suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Vipers SC , this afternoon at Mashariki play grounds in Katale.

The two sides played a build up game which was well contested but the Venoms emerged victors thanks to Brian Nkuub’s 3rd minute strike.

A lapse in concentration from the Spartans defenders saw them allow Yayo Lutimba and Baden Mujahid penetrate the box before releasing the ball to an unmarked Nkuubi who struck it in the top right corner of the goal.

Vipers dominated most of the first half but were unlucky not to score more goals despite creating a couple of chances.

Erisa Ssekisambu and Lutimba had two chances each to add to the score but failed to find the net.

Ten minutes into the second half , Edward Golola made a few changes, introducing Hassan Kalega,Pius Wangi, Steven Mukwala and later Deus Bukenya as well as Mousa Mbayi still no goals came through for the Venoms who squandered several chances.

Ashraf Mandela had his two attempts saved before Mukwala’s back heel anr header was punched out into corner kicks.

Yayo Lutimba and Mbayi also had their efforts go in the keeper’s gloves while the hosts were limited to just two shots which Vipers’ custodian James Alitho easily dealt with.

Golola commented that his side could have done better especially in the goal mouth, but is hopeful they will fix a few things before the league resumes.

Vipers were using this game to prepare themselves for the upcoming Uganda premier league trip to Namboole stadium next Saturday where they will face Police FC.
