Seven Players from Vipers on the Cranes Final Team to Face Tanzania in CHAN

The Uganda Cranes Coach Mulitin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has named an unchanged squad to face Taifa Stars of Tanzainia in the return leg of the CHAN Championship qualifier on 04/07/2015 at Nakivubo Stadium. Seven Vipers SC players have made it to the final 18 man squad, on the starting line-up are; custodian James Alitho, center back Shafiq Bakaki, mid field maestro Farouq Miya and strikers John Semazzi and Erisa Sekisambu with Kezrone Kizito and Deus Bukenya on the bench.

Going into Saturday’s fixture, the Uganda Cranes are riding high with a comfortable 3-0 lead from an away victory courtesy of a double from Vipers SC new signing Erisa Sekibambu and the last minute penalty from team mate Miya Farouk during the first leg match played a fortnight ago in Aman stadium, Zanzibar.

The Serb will not take any chances and as such he has maintained his confidence in the Cranes team to ensure continuity and passage to the next round. However, Micho’s counterpart and newly appointed Taifa Stars Head Coach Charles Boniface Mkwasa is adamant that it’s not over yet, his team can spring up a surprise and overturn the result which will require Tanzania to win by at least a 4-0 margin to progress. On his arrival at the Entebbe Airport on Thursday, Mkwasa booming with confidence cautioned “Football is a very funny game. We can score the goals just like Uganda did away from home. My players have the ability and it’s a reality, we have seen it happen world over,” He added “Years back during my playing days, we lost to Uganda 2-1 in Dar es Salaam before we won in Kampala 3-0”.

The winner of this encounter will face Sudan over two legs to determine who will make it to the CHAN finals to be staged in Kigali, Rwanda
