Soana Vs Vipers SC
Kavumba Recreation grounds
Baden Ogama is out of Vipers trip to Kavumba after suffering an ankle injury last week.
The industrious forward limped off training after a collision with teammate Ashraf Mandela hence will miss February’s games against Soana,Onduparaka and Mbarara City as he recovers from the injury.
Ogama put up an impressive display in the first round but his team will have to make do without his services but the good news is the Venoms have proven striker Dan Sserunkuma whom they acquired from Express FC in January.
“I am happy to be here and look forward to helping my team win beginning with Saturday’s tie,” said Sserunkuma after the last training.
Sserunkuma who scored 6 goals last year will be aiming to continue his fine form at Vipers.
His arrival boosted the team’s striking line that looked blunt in the opening round.
Vipers vice captain Tadeo Lwanga said the striker will help the team solve the goal scoring issues this time around.
” Sserunkuma’s acquisition is timely and important for us,we are excited already, “Lwanga commented.
Miguel Da Costa’s side threw away a lead in the reverse fixture to draw one all after Baker Lukooya eluded Bakaki Shafik and Geoffrey Wasswa to level matters for the visitors at the St Mary’s stadium.
Vipers must attack from the start and pick maximum points against Soana and keep their title hopes alive and move to 29 points.
Except Baden Ogama, defenders Dan Birkwalira and Shafik Bakaki were left out of the match day squad due to lack of match fitness.
The pair resumed training this week following knee and ankle injuries respectively.
Goal keeper Isma Watenga is back and will start between the sticks after missing the 3-1 Uganda Cup won over Bronken SC last weekend.
Halid Lwaliwa has been included in the team after a long time absence with a knee problem and is likely to make his first appearance after almost a year.
The rest of the players are fine and will be available for selection.
