Vipers outwit SC Bronken in Uganda Cup

Uganda Cup 2018
SC Bronken 1-3 Vipers SC

Vipers Sports Club showed their intent of winning this year’s Uganda Cup with a scintillating start against SC Bronken.

The Venoms proved their might with a comfortable 3-1 victory over Bronken in the round of 64 Uganda Cup game played in Kasese town.

Goals from Bashir Asiku, Frank ‘Zaga’ Tumwesigye and Steven Mukwala were enough to send Vipers SC to the next round.

With skipper Nicholas Wadada on the bench, Tadeo Lwanga took on the mantle to lead the troops and the breakthrough came early.

Just eight minutes into the game, defender Bashir Asiku gave the visitors the lead after the Bronken defence failed to clear away the ball.

This was his first goal for the senior team and midway through the opening half, crafty midfielder Tumwesigye also got onto the score sheet his first goal as well this season.

With three minutes to halftime, Xavier Masereka pulled one for the home side to carry hope heading into the mandatory break.

However, Mukwala who had set up Tumwesigye for Vipers’ second goal sealed the victory in the second stanza to put the game beyond reach.

New signing Dan ‘Muzeeyi’ made his competitive debut for the Venoms coming on as a second half substitute replacing Erisa Ssekisambu in the 69th minute.

The 2016 Uganda Cup winners will now await for the draw to know their next opponents in the round of 32.
