Following some transfer business at the club, Vipers Sports Club retained 2014/15 squad and the new signings, are set to start preseason training on 15th July 2015 at St Mary’s Kitende playground to kick off preparations for the forthcoming busy season where the club will compete in various championships and all eyes will be on the defending champions to disclose what is in store ahead of the coming season.
The acquisition of Bakaki Shafiq (Express), Semazzi John (Express), Seninde Duncan (Rwenshama Kjt), Nkuubi Brian (Kira Young) and Sekisambu Erisa (SC Villa) will definitely bolster an already strong squad but the million dollar question is who are the likely candidates to leave to pave way for the latest arrivals at the club.
Mutyaba Sulaiman has kicked the exit door first following a mutual consent with the club to embark on a new challenge reportedly at Express FC. “We cannot underrate Mutyaba’s contribution towards the league championships the club won with him and for that, and more we will always be grateful, we wish him a great time wherever he has gone and he will always be part of Vipers Sports Club” said Club Chairman Tadius Kitandwe to the departing midfielder.
Next in line is Edward Ssali aka “Biano” who has decided to call it quits due to a heart diagnosis in2011 which greatly affected his performances even after being cleared to resume playing incidentally by the same doctors, the fear in him persisted rendering him unable to continue with competitive football. The club therefore intends to enroll him into an administrative role as a way of appreciation for the diligent services he offered the club.
The Azam Uganda Premier League rules require clubs to submit the released players, loaned players and retained or recruited players within a month before the league kick off. The club technical committee therefore sits tomorrow to release a conclusive list detailing all the above mentioned players. The preseason friendly matches programme shall be released upon receipt of next season’s league fixtures.
