Vipers SC v Proline FC: The Brief

AUPL fixture:
23 – Dec -2017
Vipers SC v Proline FC
St. Mary’s stadium

Following our win on Wednesday against Express FC, Miguel Da Costa’s side will be keen to wrap up the first round fixture with a win against Proline FC on Saturday.

On form striker Milton Karisa, fresh from representing the Country at the just concluded Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup in Kenya, started from where he stopped as he broke the deadlock in Wankulukuku in 22nd minute before Erias Ssekisambu stepped in to convert the penalty in the 38th minute.

The 2-1 result moved Vipers fourth on the log, eight points behind leaders Villa.

Defender Dan Birikwalira is still out with a knee injury while Halid Lwaliwa is training but not yet fully fit.

Steven Mukwala picked an injury while representing the National U-20 side last week in Zambia.

Tonny Odur is also not available for the Venoms while the rest of the squad is fit for duty.

“We have to continue to do what we do but we have to do it quicker and better,” said Da Costa. “That means providing our game with more pace, with more penetrating runs, by getting deeper behind the defenders. That’s the target.

“Proline FC isn’t an easy team because they will first of all try to defend well. It’s down to us. I believe we have to focus, first of all, to continue to keep scoring while we defend well, and as well at home we know we can create chances and that’s what we want to continue to do.’
